The track is produced by Julie out of Arima—my hometown—and the music is excellent. It’s colorful, vibrant, and built for movement. This is the kind of groove that throws you straight back to the days when Calypso was the dance engine of every fete across Trinidad and Tobago. The arrangement feels joyful, familiar, and wonderfully danceable, too. Well done.

During his interview with Damion Melville on WACK Visual Radio 90.1FM, Blackie spoke openly about his process for choosing songs. His guiding question?
“Can I sell the song?”
For him, “selling” a song means more than performing it—it’s about portraying the story, transmitting the energy, and pulling the audience into the hook until they’re singing along with him. He listens to anyone who says they “have a song for Blackie,” but he only takes the ones he can feel, embody, and deliver with that trademark smile. When it clicks, he knows instantly: “Ah ha… this is the one.”
