Gary Cordner’s “Time” — A Cry for Reparations and Justice

Gary Cordner's new release “Time” is more than music—it's a powerful statement. Through passionate lyrics and haunting rhythm, Cordner confronts the enduring impact of slavery and the systemic inequalities that still shape Caribbean life today.

The song is a call for reparations, a demand for justice long overdue. Cordner reflects on the historical trauma of Africans brought to the Caribbean as slaves and the generations that continue to bear the weight of that injustice. He reminds listeners that while other groups have received compensation for their suffering, the descendants of the enslaved remain marginalized—still waiting for society to make things right.

Musically, “Time” blends Afro‑Soca elements with traditional Soca energy, creating a hybrid sound that feels both ancestral and modern.
Written and composed by Gary Cordner, arranged by Keon Cordner and Request, mixed and mastered by Kyle Phillips of Badjohn Republic, with background vocals by Natalie Yorke and Joseph Williams, this track is a collaboration rooted in purpose and artistry.

“Time” is not just a song — it’s a reminder, a reckoning, and a rallying cry for justice.
