Soca Artist Dexter "Blaxx" Stewart dies from Covid-19 Complications

"Ban yuh belly" because we have lost one of the great ones out of Trinidad and Tobago. Dexter "Blaxx" Stewart, the beloved Soca singer,  succumbed to Covid-19 complications at the Arima General Hospital on March 28, 2022. He will be missed by his colleagues, family, friends, and those who love Soca music. Sunrise December 21, 1960; Sunset March 28, 2022.

It was reported that Blaxx was admitted to the  Arima General Hospital on March 21st. with his deteriorating condition leading to ICU care. He succumbed to Covid-19 conditions on March 28th. His passing will be honored by those who loved him and his fellow artists; he was loved and will be dearly missed.

Some of his well-known songs included Breathless, Tusty, Tanty Woi, Hunting, Hulk, and Carnival Jumbie. Some of his 2019 songs were Same Way, Canboulay. He is also well-known for his catchphrases “alyuh come een” and “ban yuh belly".  www.newday.co.tt.

Today we pay tribute to this son of the soil, this talented artist aka 'hit maker' out of Trinidad & Tobago, or beloved son, Dexter "Blaxx" Stewart. Blaxx could genuinely sing; he was refreshing and delivered songs that made people feel good.  As was reported and stated by his band, D'All Starz,  "May his voice be heard among the angels." Gone but will never be forgotten; his music lives on!
