Is Wot (A Tribute to Brother Resistance) | David Rudder

The original image is the property of the 'Is Wot' project/Guardian newspaper (image of Brother Resistance).

This is new music from the maestro himself, David Michael Rudder. This is a CalypSoca tribute to the deceased innovator of Rapso music, Brother Resistance. Ring the bell, ring it all over honors the Rapso movement that was so loved by Lutalo Masimba aka Brother Resistance. This song is a remake of Charlie's Roots (Rudder as lead singer) from 1987.

We have included the new track and the original song below. Rudder's talent still shines brightly but one can hear the difference in the strength of his vocals after listening to the original song, 'Kojak'. Is Wot has a beautiful musical arrangement but should have been at least one minute longer. Two and one-half minutes is just too short however, we are thankful for the tribute. Well done Sir Rudder!

YouTube notes: This is a thank you note from one iconic artist to another.
"Is Wot " is a musical tribute to deceased Rapso icon and poet Lutalo "Brother Resistance" Masimba, in honor of the late Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) president. TUCO's ongoing Calypso History Month of October themed "De Bell Reigns'', is dedicated to the memory of the late Network Rapso Riddim Band and lead singer. Rudder, who recorded and released the rapso track"Kojak" in 1987, this remake pays homage to the entire genre the rapso-man loved.
