We did not intend this to be a tribute morning but this one is worth watching. Sunrise 8 December 1942 Sunset, 11 September 2020. He was a great one and is credited with recording the first Reggae song.

Sadly, we posted on the death of Calypso/Soca icon Rupert "King Swallow" Philo yesterday and followed with the passing of Frederick Nathaniel "Toots" Hibbert on our Facebook portal. The Caribbean region is mourning the deaths of two great artists. Today we pay tribute to one of the best, Toots Hibbert. He was not just a great Caribbean artiste but a World music icon who, as stated above, is credited with the first Reggae song recorded (Do The Reggay)... the father of the genre. He was a master of Ska and gave us some of the most notable songs for both Ska and Reggae. He won a Grammy Award for "Best Reggae Album" in 1989.

Toots was hospitalized with complications similar to Covid-19. He transitioned to the afterlife with members of his family at his side. No official cause of death has been announced. Here is a link to his discography on Discogs. Link: https://www.discogs.com/artist/386831-Toots-Hibbert
