Can you feel the music? Well, Lord Shorty gifted us with the album, "Sweet Music" in 1976. The album's anthem was a song entitled Sweet Music. This post features a version of that song that came along the following year. It was the beautiful sound of one of the most talented musical groups to come out of Trinidad and Tobago. Those who remember the funk and soul of the band Kalyan.

The song was updated and given a funky style. Kalyan delved into fusion music and took Soca to another level. The song we feature today is "Sweet Music" by Kaylan.

Kalyan was the first local group to carry Soca-Music onto the Billboard charts when Disco Reggae (Tony’s Groove) Pt.1 peaked at #18 on the Dance Club Chart. #92 Billboard R& B chart and the Album “KALYAN Peaked at #55 on the Album chart.

Billboard 200 album chart #173 in 1977.

They were the first all-black group to be signed to MCA Records whose headline artist was Elton John at the time.

They opened for some of the biggest artists and groups such as The Commodores, Teddy Pendergrass, and The Jackson 5.
