Nutured in Calypso and flavored with Soca vibes... this is CalypSoca music featuring the talent of the CEO of WACK Radio 90.1 FM. He is here to protect and promote the culture of Trinidad and Tobago using music that should appeal to the youth and those whom are young at heart! Today we present 'Wack Dem Kenny' by the beloved CEO Mr. Kenny Phillips.

This is a song that had to happen; Kenny Phillips has gone against all odds and created and promoted a total local content radio station known by its listeners as WACK. WACK is an acronym for We Are Culture Krazy! It has been a long and trying road that this station has traveled. To this day WACK still does not receive the respect it deserves from the local populace and the business community who are stingy with their advertising budgets. They have a preference for radio stations located in the capital city. The time to move on from his CEO position and use his production skills to send a message to all the naysayers. As a result, "Wack Dem Kenny", the CalypSoca track is here!

Why now? This show was written and performed to create a awareness for the need for more local content on radio stations. The international audience craves for WACK But that is not the case for the local audience. This has to change. Then again we also have to understand the use of CalypSoca vibes in this production. Hundreds of Calypsos are released every carnival season yet they are not heard on radio with the exception of WACK radio. What is the problem? Soca is popular but Calypso is no longer mainstream. Ah ha, use a fusion of rhythms! More calypso style (vocals and use of brass) with a Socva vibe on the drum kit... CalypSoca that has the missing vibe... Calypso now has the vibe needed to chip, dance and have fun.

Shots fired! Everyone one who needed a blessing got it in the song... not a favored blessing but a blessing of boi! The lyrical content delivered the trial and meted out the justice for the lack of love or ones culture. We have your back KP!

Now that you have a better understand of the need you can understand what Kurt Allen and Kenny Phillips attempted with the lyrical content. Kenny joked that he and a box delivered the vibe but with the talent of Precision Productions, Badjohn Republic and KMP music studios we can relish the product.
