Thank God For Carnival | Kurt Allen | Trinidad/Tobago 2019

Trinidadians (citizens of Trinidad and Tobago) love to say "Thank God for" when trouble comes their way. Today, 'on the flip side', Kurt Allen is giving thanks for our legendary carnival celebrations.

Kurt celebrates the achievements of our 'pagan festival' that saved us from social bacchanal while creating an event and environment that is world renowned for its cultural expressions and glorious creative achievements.

This is new music for Trinidad and Tobago carnival 2019 from  a friend of Sokah2Soca, "The Last Bardjohn of Calypso", the lyrical master, Mr. Kurt Allen; we present "Thank God For Carnival"!

Kurt always brings strong lyrical content addressing topics not addressed by other singers. He pokes fun while showing how all the so called bad and good come together to lift the nation bringing positive international attention to the twin island republic. Kurt hits hard but saves the best for last... there is hope, "save them, save them, save them"!

Kenny Phillips of KMP Music Productions outdid himself with this music production. The outro that features the rhythm section delivered a j'ouvert morning bacchanal vibe that King Carnival takes to the streets to start the road parade. No wait, Kenny did not just do a good job he is the man of Calypso in Trinidad and Tobago today. He is doing it with his productions and features everything calypso on his radio station (www.wackradio90.1 FM for online listeners). We applaud Kenny and Kurt for this excellent song... this excellent music production. Well done guys!

Music Release Notes:
Thank God For Carnival My first commentary release for CK2019 is lyrically self-explanatory. The Calypso gives a classical/historical account of what is “really” carnival and what is the “true” meaning of bacchanal.

What is also made clear is that we are creative people, creators of the “steelpan”, and as such we are blessed with transformative powers that allow us to make good of any given situation in time and space.

We “Trinbagonians” have transformed the original energies of carnival into a uniting and balanced creative force. This force manifests as various cultural traditions and expressions such as the steel drum, calypso and its derivatives, limbo etc.

This Calypso contends that with the absence of our carnival traditions (which act as an avenue to release the stresses and trials of our existence), our social and political structures would have long collapsed and be left in ruin, coups, revolution, ethnic/religious war, social unrest and outright anarchy.

Therefore it is concluded that while the original intent of carnival may have been steeped in occultism and mysticism, its present incarnation (Trinidad and Tobago carnival) ultimately births and produces an alternative opposing energy. An energy that stabilizes and balances our existence as a people in the midst of confusion.

It is our science to release the beast during carnival in order to maintain peace in the preceding months of the year.

Great production from The Bardjohn and KP, besides the combination of the great minds I think the blending of serious social commentary and the pulsating jouvert riddim is infectious. This is Rudderesque, spitting fire but compelling you to chip.
