We have some news out of the UK for carnival 2018. The Groovy Soca Monarch competition was won by British born Vincy Soca singers Sunshine & Nadiva singing a song entitled "I Got It". The ACUK Groovy Soca Monarch competition took place at "The Tabernacle" on Friday, August 17th. 2018. The full results are posted below.

Music Release Notes:

‘I Got It’ was written to empower women and encourage them to be confident in what they bring to the table. It intends to leave an imprint in all females minds that whatever insecurity they are facing, they don't have to face it alone, but what they need is a change of mind, and this song is the change.

To celebrate the woman and the fact that men cannot do without us, no matter how they try; this the song promotes self-love, so women can know their worth, stand proud, and willfully say ‘I Got It’! It's a fun, catchy, heavy bassline, whining tune for all to get on to.

The lyrical content reflects the sisters’ appreciation to Vincy musicians and was inspired by some of  Saint Vincent's favorite Vincy Soca songs by artists such as Becket, Kevin Lyttle, Luta, Skinny Fabulous, Problem Child, Fireman Hooper, Zoelah, Bomani, Skarpion, Fya Empress, Poorsah, and Dynamite. The pre-chorus was also inspired by Antiguan legendary band Burning Flames. I Got It was written by Sunshine & Nadiva and produced by St Vincent producer Antonius 'BADDY'Simmons.
