Carnival Tabanca Is Real

All major Caribbean Basin West Indian style carnivals are over! That is simply stating the obvious in a very blunt manner. Those who can travel overseas will be heading to the US for Labor Day and later on Miami Carnival celebrations. The rest of those who are home-bound and are now going through a withdrawal stage that we like to call, "Carnival Tabanca". Some have experienced this bitter taste of denial earlier in the year while others have recently revealed in celebration only to realize that the adrenalin of carnival exuberance has receded into their memories waiting to rise again next year.

OMG, next year! But that is so far away... anxiety sets in after which a mild case of depression where dreams of 'big trucks on the road playing music' faded away as quickly as summer in New York City burns brightly then creeps and hides as winter sets in. Carnival Tabanca is like wintry grey skies dampening one's spirit. Alas, there is hope... the Internet keeps us connected and we can live the dream surfing through Soca sites and listen to music free of charge.

So here we are once again... a voice crying in the wilderness but with a message of hope that this too shall pass. Link up with Sokah2Soca and we will bring all the new music for your listening pleasure. Today we will mourn a little with you but will let Bunji soothe your senses... stay blessed, be blessed, and keep playing sweet Soca music.

Addendum August 2021:
This is in addition to what was previously posted to highlight the fact that Covid-19 has done a number on the World. Caribbean carnivals have suffered because of the pandemic with numerous cancellations thus far. Well, look what is happening in the US today... the Delta variant has some states on fire yet the Caribbean community is having parties like things are back to normal! Soca artists are performing across many states and people are planning for Miami Carnival 2021... be careful people... just saying. Please don't become a statistic... plan ahead, wear a mask, and most of all,l get vaccinated.
