Bunji Garlin has released new music for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival and everyone is rushing to YouTube and other sites to listen to the new music release. But wait, he released two songs on the same Riddim. This is unusual for an artiste to release two stand alone songs on an individual Riddim. So let's have a brief discussion here about these two songs.
First off this is unusual... an artiste may release a stand along song on a Riddim and may also be featured on another song as a guest artiste (on the same Riddim). Bunji Garlin is an International artiste and he did not have to release two songs on the same Riddim... we don't know why he did it but we have to do a mic check now... did he score with these two music releases?
In our previous posting regarding entire Riddim we noted the Urban terminology of the term Gwada . If you haven't read the post we need to tell you that the term Gwada has the following meaning: The sound a man makes when masturbating!
OK, now that we got that out of the way here is our take on the songs and the Riddim. First off the two songs are basically the same! What is going on here? The music is the same and there is a twist with "Go Stack A Dollar" and "Go Ask Yuh Mudda"... the rest is the same. Why? We do believe that "Go Ask Yuh Mudda" will score big in Trinidad because this is a hook that is very familiar and said regularly on the island (AskYuhMudda)... it will score and be overworked for sure! The adults in the room will have to ensure that the children skip using this phrase!
Having said that, these two songs are jumping up for attention on this Riddim because there is a clear leader of the pack and it is not Bunji Garlin! OK fans of Bunji you may we thinking that we are 'off beat' here but listen to the songs before beating up on us! Which song took the Riddim? Our opinion is that this Riddim was taken by Marzville x Stabby with a song entitled "Fog Up". What is your opinion!
We encourage you to support the artist and the production team. We want you to spread the word about the songs and share this post with your peers.
Please keep in mind that the success of this songs depend on your support. Spread the word, tell your friends about these two songs! Now it is up to you to ensure that these songs ride the airwaves along with the other songs on the Riddim. Please call into your favorite radio jocks and request the songs. We invite you to share your thoughts about the song and music production.
