Can you feel the beat? Hello, did you hear me? So listen up, we have new music for your listening and feting pleasure... indeed we have! The musical sweetness is a gift out of Carriacou produced by Xpert Studios for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Summer festival better known as 'Vincy Mas'. The vibe is on Version 2 of the 'Fresh Mouth Riddim'; this is the Vincy Mas Edition. The featured music today comes from the very talented Lornette Nedd-Reid better known as Fya Empress. The song is entitled 'Batty' and it is 'sweet like sugar cane'!

When I was contacted by Fya Empress regarding the release of this song I knew I was going to post it because at Sokah2Soca we are fans of Fya Empress! Then I played the song and I immediately liked what I heard... it was the Zouk influence! It was familiar but very different from the rest of music coming out of the Caribbean Basin. Trinidad had some really good music but this one, out of Carriacou, stood out. It was familiar but different and I immediately loved it. Congratulations to Fya Empress for the sound vocal performance... you are just awesome.

I spoke to the producer via Facebook IM and asked what inspired him when he created the music. This is what he said:"Well the aim was to bring back a more natural Soca/Zouk vibe as compared to most of the music that's being released these days. So we included a lot of live guitar fills and live bass, along with the inclusion of some brass fills. We want the people to be able to chip and bounce the way it used to be lol"! - Xpert Studio, Carriacou.

Well said Xpert! I have to agree with the producer because this song by Fya Empress makes you want to get in the action and have a good time. Fya Empress is a very talented singer and with Xpert Studios the team work has produced a song that captures the essence of what Carnival is all about. This song just makes you want to dance, it's a feel good music production and for that reason we support the artist and production team with this post. Well done people!
