This year, 2017, one can safely state that there is a Calypso revival in Trinidad and Tobago. It isn't that we simply have more songs or 'new blood' infused into the genre but the quality of the songs is very good. Today we present a new music release and we will use a cliché to present it.. 'this is a big song' as in a very good song! As a result, the refrain has to be Kaiso, Kaiso!

From the moment the vocals started I came to one conclusion... this singer exudes confidence with her vocal delivery. Apart from that, she is very engaging and this is a recorded calypso. I felt as if I was in the tent (front row) watching a very dominating performance from  a very talented Calypsonian.

The Calypso art form also has categories and this one was written as a political commentary. The lyrical content came from the creative minds of "Ghost Writer and Michelle Nicholson". Stacey's strong vocal performance, diction and ability to tell a story tell us that Calypso is alive and well in Trinidad and Tobago. Stacy's song addresses 'the lost art of double entendre'. Just in case you are new to this phrase.. double enterndre is the use of "a word or phrase open to two interpretations, one of which is usually risqué or indecent".

Now we can't forget the genius behind the music. Most of the well produced Calypsos for 2017 are coming out of KMP Music Lab located in San Fernando, Trinidad. This is the work of a man who understands the Calypso art form (but he can't sing to save his life) and can compose music that stands the test of time. Mr. Kenny Phillips is the man behind the music... well done sir.

In conclusion... we come back to our cliché, 'this is a big song' because, in the World of Calypso, those words resound positively in the minds of Calypso aficionados. As mentioned in our facebook portal, if 'The Last Bardjohn of Calypso' say it is a good one then we are on board! Oh and by the way, truth be told..."this is a big one"!

Now we make our appeal to you and we do so knowing that you love your Calypso and want to see the artists succeed. Please keep in mind that the success of these songs depends on your support. Let me say it again, now it is up to you to ensure that this song rides the airwaves. Please call in to your favorite radio jocks and request the song.
