Here is an interesting song that marries the talents of two high octane performers from the USVI and Trinidad and Tobago. This is an interesting song, entitled 'Ride De Pony', produced by Marvelus Production Team featuring artists Pumpa (USVI Soca King) and Shurwayne Winchester (TnT). Pumpa stated that both he and Shurwayne are know "to artistically take adventurous directions with our music". Ride De Pony is indeed an adventurous change in music direction as it relates to Trinidad and Tobago!
I heard this style of music before from songs featured for the USVI but I am weary of the acceptance this style may or may not receive in Trinidad and Tobago. This is not a style of music regularly played in Trinidad and Tobago for sure! However, the hook for this one, 'Ride De Pony' has potential and knowing 'Trinis' and well as I think I do this catch phrase only needs a start. If someone could start a 'Ride De Pony Dance' to hook the song the the rest could be history. The song has the pace and I could see throngs of people riding ponies on Carnival day. Let's see how this plays out... it should be interesting indeed!
