Baltimore/Washington One Caribbean Carnival | No DC!

Tonight on Wack Radio 90.1FM we learnt that Washington DC Carnival will not take place for 2012! However, all is not lost... the Carnival will be merged with the Baltimore Carnival festivities and will now be known as "Baltimore/Washington One Caribbean Carnival". Mr. Desmond of Wack Radio interviewed three persons involved with the DC and Baltimore committees and from that interview we learnt of some of the problems that led to the demise of the DC Carnival. This post is not meant to rehash the issues with the DC Metropolitan officials or the financial difficulties of the DC Carnival committee. Instead this post was done to provide information for those who still want to participate in the Carnival and to provide relevant information to get you to the new venue. It is a new start and one should expect a wonderful and bumper celebration for 2012.

The following information was sourced from dc.about.com.

DC Caribbean Carnival is annual Caribbean style parade and festival designed to encourage cross-cultural programs within the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area community in the expansion of Caribbean culture, and to educate youths and adults in Caribbean arts, crafts and culture.
