Every year, the unique calendar crunch of the Caribbean creates a perilous blind spot. Between the festive explosion of the Christmas Parang season and the relentless wave of new Soca releases flooding the media, traditional Calypso music risks being sidelined. We cannot allow a lack of regular airplay on local radio stations to push this vital art form into obscurity. Radio DJs and media selectors have a duty to spin the kaiso, ensuring that the voice of the people is heard alongside high-energy party anthems.
A Beacon of Hope: Keipalo’s "Open Your Eyes"
Fortunately, there are bright spots cutting through the noise that prove the genre is as potent as ever. A prime example is the newly released track by Keipalo titled "Open Your Eyes."
