History is in the making tonight. Will Machel Montano repeat his success with "Bet Meh" from the Tilden Hall Riddim, or will Yung Bredda, the upcoming champion of Zess music, wrest the crown? Alternatively, will one of the former monarchs competing tonight reclaim the title? You will have to tune in to witness it all.
I remember as a young man growing up in Trinidad watching the King and Queen of the Bands parade on the stage at the Queens Park Savannah. Allison Hennesey's vivid descriptions of the costumes brought them to life. I was mesmerized as I watched those wonderful creative works of art parade on stage dancing to the best Calypso songs of the day. We anticipate a wonderful show, a show of the creative process and an indulgence in the culture of our people.
