There is always something to complain about with Calypso competitions in the Caribbean basin. There is always a segment of supporters and some artists who grudgingly complain about the results. Today there is slightly different slant regarding the Saint Lucia Calypso Monarch Competition. One of the qualifiers for the competition has withdrawn. It was reported that Walleigh announced that he will not compete in the finals, next man up!"As a result of the withdrawal, Herb Black, who was the calypsonian with the next highest point total from the semi-finals, will now qualify for this year’s finals". The finals for the National Calypso Monarch competition is scheduled to take place on Saturday 8th. July, 2023 at SAAB Vigie.

The CPMC wishes all qualifiers the best as we move into the final round of competition. The Finals of the Calypso Monarch Competition will be held on Saturday, July 8 at the SAAB, Vigie. Tickets cost $60 regular, and $150 VIP, and are available for purchase at The Cell outlets island-wide, and Steve’s Barbershop in Castries.
