Today, I was introduced to the Barrackyard Experience Tent 2023 via a YouTube link sent to me by Mr. Kenny Phillips of WACK Radio 90.1 FM Visual Radio. Mr. Phillips recommended that I listen to a song entitled, "Normal", sung by the Bardjohn of Calypso (Kurt Allen). Wow! I am speechless after listening to the song because I did not hear this song for carnival season 2023!
The Bardjohn of Calypso penned a classic calypso and one that I consider a truth bomb about the contradictions of getting 'back to normal' in today's society. Kurt looked into his crystal ball and saw a society tumbling out of control, heading in the wrong direction yet wanting to ' get back to normal'. It is a shame that Kurt did not enter this Calypso in this year's Calypso competition. This song would have been the needed truth-bomb for Calypso Fiesta... we will never know what he could have achieved in the competition with this song.
