Karene Asche, Calypso Queen of Trinidad & Tobago (2011) is waxing philosophically for carnival 2023 with a song entitled "Oasis". The meaning of this song runs deep, it was written by Christophe Grant and produced by N.M.G Music. N.M.G Music (Nikholai Greene) also mixed and mastered the track. Calypso lovers will appreciate the inclusion of the live instruments used in the song (see production notes). Oasis - Metaphor of a desert... We are comparing the dry thirsty period of the Covid pandemic that the world and Trinidadians went thru for two years to a journey thru a desert. A journey that left us parched and thirsty (culturally) until we reach this period of relief. Now we can have a full carnival (a form of normalcy) which therefore is compared to us reaching an "Oasis".
Finally, we hope this time it's real and not a "mirage" as the taste of carnival in 2022 turned out to be. So we will sip, sip, sip at this oasis of our cultural delights ( Mas, Pan, Kaiso, Chutney, Soca, etc ) until we have our fill. That's the message behind the song.
