Tobago Carnival is next up now that Miami Carnival is history! October will not be the same again as Tobago comes alive for a carnival experience that will be the prelude for Carnival 2023 in Trinidad. Wait, didn't you mark the dates? Here they are; October 28, 29 & 30; you still have time to make arrangements to experience a taste of Tobago's historic carnival for 2022.

So you may be asking the following question: why is Tobago hosting its 2022 carnival in October when Trinidad had a scaled-back experience between February and March? The answer has to do with a spike in Covid-19 cases during the normal carnival period. The THA (Tobago House of Assembly) in conjunction with the steelpan, mas, and calypso shareholders opted out of the February - March timetable and, instead made the smart decision to host the carnival in October. This afforded all interested parties time to properly plan for the festival. This is also a smart decision financially since Trinidadians and all interested parties will flock to Tobago providing a flow of income without the lure of Trinidad's Carnival.

So what if this works? Should Tobago unhitch its carnival from Trinidad and host the yearly event in October after Miami's carnival? We think that this is a good start and that there should be interest in keeping the October dates. Just the flow of people from the larger island of Trinidad will be good for the economy of Tobago. The rest of the Caribbean will join in and, with all the new music releases they will not miss anything. I am looking forward to Tobago Carnival mix tapes from most of the popular DJs who put our mixes for Miami and other Caribbean-style carnivals.
