The Retro Fete Riddim | Soca 2023

Did you say that Soca music producers don't make music for dancing? Hold on now because we have something really special from Vibez Productions & International Stephen, this one is entitled "Retro Fete Riddim". The riddim features six of your favorite artists including and in order of appearance on the playlist:
  • Teddyson John - Party Nice
  • Arthur Allain - Feeling Irie
  • Problem Child - Too Bad Mind
  • Skinny Fabulous - Sauce
  • Jaiga TC - Living Bess
  • Marzville - I Want To Wuk
It is notable that none of the 'big name' artists out of Trinidad and Tobago are on this riddim. It is a really nice vibe and very surprising not to see any of the industry leaders out of Trinidad and Tobago on the riddim. We are not throwing shade on any of the artists on the riddim and surely not doing that to Jaiga but it would have been nice to see Patrice Roberts or Nadia Batson on the riddim. This riddim is all male and it would have served the producers well to have a female voice on the vibe.

So we have to make picks... so here we go. Teddyson John is our favorite, he never disappoints! The man's voice and singing style are superb. Party Nice captures the essence of carnival feting. As a result, we have Teddyson as our favorite. Marzville's song feels right for a sweet wine (sauce included)! We have Marzville next on our list. Feeling Irie is just Ok but does not live up to the 'feeling irie' he is selling.  Problem Child is storytelling so I will just watch and chip in place to this one. Those who like a little saucy lyrical content will appreciate Problem Child's song for sure. Skinny Fabulous and Jaiga fall in the same place, I am not sure how I feel about these two songs... I will get a drink while these two tracks play.
