Horn meh but doh leave me... well, not exactly friends. Horn does hurt, horn does kill, horn is not good for the soul and causes so much pain! However, for those observing the horn situation, this makes for great kankalang! Today, we premiere a song entitled "Wrong Again", this song is about 'getting horn' sung by Skinny Banton that was released for Grenada's summer carnival 2019. Now let's get to it!
Visitors from North America/Europe/people not familiar with Caribbean culture: To horn someone is to cheat in the relationship with an emphasis on sexual encounters.
The cry is always 'what did I do wrong'? Well, there is a saying in the islands that goes like this: once a dog learns to suck egg it will suck egg for the rest of its life. Horn is real and it hurts, that is if you are on the receiving end of the disturbance. Then again for those dong the horning... that damn thing sweet for days... ent!
Ok, ok but what about the song? This song has relevance for carnival year after year because with carnival and feting, comes horning! This phenomenon is prevalent for carnival until someone gets caught. We like the fact that Skinny Banton approached this song with such passion. The lyrical content is on point and the vocals sound like someone who got hurt via the horn syndrome. Somethings always have some truth to it... ask Skinny about that!
The music production, the vibe, the vocals, and the lyrical content are all on point. We love what we hear and think that this song will cross over to Trinidad and Tobago carnival 2020. It has what it takes music-wise, lyrically and since Trinis like to horn then we contend that this song will be a hit in Trinidad and Tobago for carnival 2020.
The following lines from the song show the pain that horn can create. Remember not to 'hate on love my friends'!
When I say
Ah fed up with horn.
Alluh feel is joke ah making.
I doh want to hate on love.
But Sometime ah keep debating.
She say I is she only lover,
she only friend.
Me make ah wish, mark it with pen.
Ah sleep, and I had a dream,
Wake uphand make ah vow.
Soon as everything complete now we sour now.
Chorus
What ah do wrong again lawrd?
Tell me what ah do wrong again!
People calling me name lawrd'
They say ah get horn again!

This is a review of the song by Di Soca Analyst: We break down Skinny Banton's latest hit "Wrong Again." It's a chune that is having both men and women sing out against horning (cheating).
