Stan The Dog Catcher | Kid Kallalloo | Kaiso Karavan 2019

Music is life, music is love, and it is this love for our culture and some serious persistence that led to this song being promoted on our blog.
We are thankful to Mr. Kenny Phillips of WACK Radio for broadcasting this song during the carnival season. If he did not play this song via WACK Radio/WACK TV we would not have known about the song.

Every Carnival season brings us to a point where one song stands out in the Calypso tents but may not gain national notoriety. Today we have that song! This is "Stan The Dog Catcher" sung by Kid Kallalloo.

Calypso can take any subject and treat it as a serious topic, make fun of the topic, create a dance with the topic and generally make people happy. People go to the Calypso tents to be entertained and most of the time there is a song that is heard in the tent that you will not hear on radio (unless you listen to WACK Radio 90.1FM). How we use words and how those word are used by the Calypsonian is creatively known as double entendre (words/phrases that have two meanings). As an example think about this: Stan The Dog Catcher vs The Dog Catcher Stan. Now say it the way a Trinidadian would... "De Dog Ketch-a Stan"!

Ah ha! I guess a figurative light bulb just lit up your brain and your smile is now providing a generous ear to ear grin. There is something special about Calypso that Soca music just cannot provide. Our sentiments towards this song is more than generous, it is wicked, mischievous and crafty. For many of those reasons plus whatever you can add to the conversation, we want you to listen and appreciate how cleaver the Calypsonian is when he plays with words and phrases. We think you will love this song. Now share this post on all Social Media platforms ensuring that your peers do the same. Make Kid Kallalloo and "Stan The Dog Catcher" the song that brought the house down after Carnival 2019 went to bed... we are not sleeping on this one!
