Chutney Soca Monarch Cancelled!?! | The Drama Unfolds for 2018

"Rowlee Mudda Count" will not be sung at this years Chutney Soca Monarch competition because the show has been canceled! You heard it right... no show for 2018! 
Why no show? Government sponsorship, according to George Singh of Southex Events Management company, was cut by ninety percent! Sorry Chutney Soca fans you will have to live through this one and groan with the rest of the nation. 

Now keep in mind that there is always some form of drama associated with these events. The fact is the National Lotteries Board (sponsor of the event) erroneously cut sponsorship to one third (Trinidad Guardian News Story) of what was expected. 

The story continues to unfold and one should look our for a dramatic announcement that all has been resolved and the show is back on as previously scheduled... Trinidad Culture is total drama!

The following story appeared in the Trinidad and Tobago Newsday newspaper:
"The Chutney Soca Monarch competition has been canceled because of a cut in State sponsorship, the show's promoter George Singh announced this morning at a press conference.

Singh, the head of Southex Events Management Company said that allocations by the State for the competition was cut by as much as 90 per cent hence his decision to cancel the competition which was being eagerly anticipated in light of the fact that artiste Nermal "Massive" Gosein had thrown his hat into the ring to perform his controversial hit song, "Rowlee Mudda Count"."

Carnival is bacchanal but the show will go on! 
Good news for Chutney Soca Monarch fans... the show is on! Yup, the drama is over and as we mentioned previously this is just dama. They found the money was found and everybody is happy!
