Weld Up Riddim | Carriacou/Trinidad & Tobago 2018

Did you know that Carriacou and Trinidad & Tobago share the same carnival dates? Most of the other islands in the Caribbean region have moved their carnival dates to avoid clashing with Trinidad and Tobago's carnival. However, Carriacou is not afraid of good competition. Having said that, we are here today to present a Carriacou Riddim for Carnivals in 2018. This is a production of a friend of this Blog, Xpert Productions. Today we present the Weld Up Riddim for your listening pleasure.

It is quite possible that most Trinidadians are not aware of the fact that we share the same carnival dates with Carriacou. Everyone is aware of Grenada's carnival but miss out on the great music coming out of Carriacou. We want Trinidad and Tobago to enjoy good Soca music and not because Trinidad will be drowning in a tsunami of new local music we can't stand by and let sweet Soca music go untested in Trinidad and Tobago. This Riddim comes with six songs/singers. Take a look at the production notes before playing the music.

Now everyone will have their favorite and we will tell you the one that we like. This is an excellent listing of songs. Check out Slatta's track, he is on fire! Each singer brings his/own own unique flavor  to the musical experience but we especially like 'Privately' by Laura Lisa because she does not want to complicate the relationship (carnival relationships can be complicated friends). Here is the problem you will have with this Riddim, the more you  listen to the songs you will find something to like for each song. I guess this is a mood Riddim; you will latch on to a song based on your mood. We love all the songs... that is the best way to deal with that conversation!

We encourage you to get to know the music of the region and  to support the artistes and the production team. It is our goal, and we hope yours, to spread the word about the songs of the Weld Up Riddim and share this post with your peers.

Please keep in mind that the success of this song depends on your support. Spread the word, tell your friends about the song! Now it is up to you to ensure that this song rides the airwaves. Please call into your favorite radio jocks/local radio stations and request the songs you like on this Riddim. We invite you to share your thoughts about the songs and music production.
