Fya Empress Wins the Calypso Monarch for Saint Vincent & the Grenadines 2017

Lornette "Fya Empress" Nedd, who sang "Hope Is Alive", won the Calypso Monarch title at last night's Dimanche Gras show/competition at Victoria Park in Saint Vincent. Fya Empress, who resides in Tobago, is the new Calypso Monarch for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for Vincy Mas 2017.

Fya Empress impressed the crowd in addendance and impacted the judges positively with her rendition of a song entitled "Hope Is Alive". Her stage presence/performance and vocal delivery was good enough to prevent second place contestant "Man Zangie" from winning the title for a fourth straight year.

Sokah2Soca has always been a friend and supporter of Fya Empress. We are proud of her achievements. Congratulations are extended to her from our New York and Trindad & Tobago base.

The results were as follows:
  1. Fya Empress - Hope Is Alive
  2. Zamfir "Man Zangie" Adams - Enough No More
  3. Joanna Christopher
  4. Glenroy "Sulle" Cesar
