The listing below shows the announced/drawing of positions for the Semi-final round of competition. However, the actual order was different on the day of the show/competition. Not all contestants sang in the announced order - nothing new here!
I guess the saying, "Anytime is Trinidad Time" rings true for this event! Having said that we must note that some artists believe that if they perform too early it is not in their best interest. As a result they show up late for the show. This is the case for many of the other Caribbean artists: Fadda Fox (Barbados @ #42), Lyrikal (Trinidad @ #44), Leadpipe and Saddis (Barbados @ #45) and Skinny Fabulous (Saint Vincent @ #47).
It looked like Skinny Fabulous forgot that he was in the Groovy Soca competition and 'shouted' like he was in the Power Soca Competition (yes they shout) and Lyrikal was out of breath singing on stage... now that was so disappointing!
Kudos to the band providing the music tonight. If there was one thing to applaud it was the music... it was a breath of fresh air!
I was impressed with Fya Empress when she took the stage for the Power Soca category. She performed well and her vocal performance was very good - finally she looked great on stage. How about that... just imagine she was able to actually sing and not shout!
There is a lot to talk about but not here... that is for another time. However, I have to say this here and now. Super Blue should not perform live again. He should not attempt to enter competitions ever again. Super Blue should do studio recordings only and let the music producers/engineers auto tune his voice. He was on stage, a shell of his legendary self, struggling to vocalize... his overall performance was just pitiful!
