Tonight is the night that  the last of the big shows take place at the National Stadium before King Carnival takes to the streets. Nine Calypsonians will compete to dethrone last year's monarch Findley Jeffrey whose sobriquet is "Scholar". It was reported tonight that Scholar's song "Cannot Deliver" carries the same name of the song he did for the Groovy Soca competition but the lyrics are reported to be different; the song was never aired on radio! So listen for a surprise song from the reigning monarch tonight!

"Long live Calypso" is the cry of the president of Trinidad's Calypso Organization TUCO, Lutalo Masimba, and it is hoped that tonight's show for Grenada's Dimanche Gras lives up to the hype. Long live Kaiso and it is hoped that the story telling will wow the people tonight. Calypso was the life blood of carnival but it has been supplanted by Soca music. Let's hope that the artists in tonight's show bring back the glory days when Calypso reigned supreme for the Carnival. The Calypso Finals will take place on Sunday August 11, 2013 at the National Stadium in Saint  George's, Grenada.
