One thing I can say about J'overt morning in Antigua is that 'they don't take their jouvay for granted' - they come out 'to play mas and have a damn good time'. It was a sea of humanity bumping and grinding and having the time of their lives.
This was not a time for inhibitions after feting/having fun all night in a party of choice. This morning it was time to 'free up, jam and wine on a friend or a total stranger"; indeed, it was a time for Sweet Misbehavin' Antigua style! The revelers did not care that the water truck was 'hosing down' the wave of humanity as they simply 'freed up their minds' and danced to the winning Soca Song this year. It was time for Ezzy Rattigan's "Golden Cup" to be heard and the revelers were using their own words (double entendre calypso style) to sing along to the music.
This is/was jouvay the way it was meant to be... a time to have fun with friends and 'wine on ah bumsy' at the same time.... however, the music is more about 'gettin' on bad (in a good way, OK) and simply having fun. In other words, and in true Antiguan style, it is all about Sweet Misbehavin'!
