Tonight is the night that Saint Lucia will crown 'New' Soca Monarch champions for Carnival 2013. The show is scheduled to take place at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds starting at 8:00 pm. There should be radio and Internet video coverage of the events.

These two shows are not without controversy as news releases announced that Teddyson "TJ" John will not defend his Groovy Soca Monarch title. It was reported that "TJ"was preparing for another show (Love Passion Music) and did not have the time to prepare (properly) to defend the title. It should also be noted that the very popular singer Alpha also withdrew from the competition because of 'very little radio play of his songs'! Alpha formerly won the Powr Soca Monarch competition in 2004, 2005 & 2006 & the Groovy title in 2009 & 2010... what is really going on in Saint Lucia?

In another story it was also revealed that last year's Party Monarch, Kwency "Superman HD" Griffith, will also not defend his title. However, in this case health reasons were cited for his withdrawal from the competition. You can see the show live on Choice TV at the following link: Choice TV
