This is new music from Destra Garcia released just in time for Barbados Crop Over festival but better positioned for Carnivals in Canada (Caribanna), Boston and New York City. The song was co-written by Destra and the breadfruit man himself Jason "Sharp" Bishop. The production was done by De Red Boyz out of Barbados with the mixing done by Dre.
I listened to the song but found that it did not have the usual vibrancy that comes with a song from Destra. It lacked fire and felt like they tried to be a bit too laid back with this production. In other words, when I listen to the music, it does not have the 'knock out punch' that should have been the case with a combination of De Red Boyz and Destra. It just feels too smooth and lack the gritty feel of a Carnival jam... it has the potential but needs to be reworked!
Let's see if a remix of the track can put the true carnival feel that this one, in my view, lacks and needs to become a hit for Summer 2013. The theme and lyrics feel right but the music lacks the 'slap in yuh face' that says "My Name is Destra Garcia" take notice of me!
