One sure fire way to get attention is to run with that which is popular and hopefully you will garner the desired attention. The Harlem Shake is all over the Internet, the Jab Riddim is notoriously popular in Grenada and Trinidad to a lesser extent. Soca is the the music of the English speaking Caribbean islands. Take all of those components and mix them up and you get the song, "Break Away". Peter Ross aka Peter Ram is the well known artist behind the vocals on this very energetic presentation for Barbados Crop Over 2013.
Peter Ram is a seasoned veteran in the Soca business today. He has a song that takes into consideration all the drama that comes with Carnival festivities but hooked in the Harlem shake to bring attention not only to the dance but show that his music is just right to handle what ever musical dance vibe that you want to bring to the table. This song should get the attention the artist desires for Kadooment 2013. The challenge will be to get the song to hook into the other carnivals in the region. SVG, Antigua, Grenada (Jab riddim should help) and the Lucian festivals should be targeted when promoting this song.
Take a listen to the vibe presented by Anderson 'Blood' Armstrong and the man we know as Peter Ram and decide if this is one song that you would love to hear when you get into your fete mood. Please leave your feed back via the comment feature of this post (top right hand corner).
