Differentology | Bunji Garlin | Major Lazer Remix 2013

Today another remix of Bunji Garlin's song entitled Differentology was released with hopes of bringing a greater International feel to the song. This one has a very Techno orientation (EDM) to it. I listened to the song but get the feeling that the remake took away the comfort zone that made the song feel so good - they changed the vibe of the track!  Maybe the intention is to make the track more Eurocentric and fit in to the music style of the European Club scene.
Yes, I listened to the mix and initially I questioned how this will propel the song in the international market... I mentioned on imix that this is not the best mix that I have heard and surely has changed the vibe of the track but maybe they know something that we don't... vibez!

Maybe it was not done for Soca lovers but to help push the song/create a greater appeal for the music/artist on the International market. It has the vibe for the club scene especially in the European market - let's wait and see how it all plays out. This mix has the name of Major Lazer affixed to it and everyone is aware of how big this brand name is and the impact Major Lazer has on club scene/street level music lovers. Check out the 'hook to this mix' from 1:50 on the track when Major Lazer drop their 'vibez' on the remix. One can say this is five minutes of  'Madderific Techno Soca'; let's call it Differentology on Steroids!

"DJ/production super group Major Lazer has remixed Bunji Garlin’s 2013 Carnival hit “Differentology”. The collaboration hits airwaves across the globe today (April 5, 2013) and will appear on the group’s latest EP Major Lazer Strikes Back. The much anticipated remix is expected to give the song the added impetus needed to complete its transition into a global hit.

“I've always been a big fan of Bunji Garlin; it's crazy to see how his music has evolved. He always had a style that was accessible outside of Soca music so this is just a natural evolution in his process,” said Major Lazer DJ/Producer Chris “Jillionaire” Leacock about the remix.

Jillionaire said the locally produced track, done by Keron “Sheriff” Thompson of Black Ice Studios, has received rave reviews from DJs across the globe for its unique approach and high production value."
