Soucouyant Sighting in Paramin | Undeniable or just Folklore?

If you ever wanted to know about the existence of the fabled Soucouyant (the one that leaves 'blue marks' on the legs of women after sucking some blood) then go and ask Gail (Queen of Paramin) from the now-defunct Wack Radio chatbox.

It has been rumored that Gail has the 411 on the Soucouyant problems that plague Paramin. Now if you don't know, the village of Paramin is located in the Northern range of mountains in Trinidad - ideally located and suited for these loving vampires of the night! However, the talk in the Wack chat box has it that the problem of the Soucouyant menace in Paramin does not exist anymore. However, strange stories are beginning to emerge (from the grapevine) from the Morristown area. We will contact Gail to get some insight into this troubling topic.

Now here is an interesting discussion of a Soucouyant sighting in the Paramin area as told by Mr. Bernard a respected resident of the area. The wonderful thing about this discussion is that they are speaking using Patois as the language of choice. You can follow the discussion by reading the translation (closed captioning) on the video feed.

Helpful info from Wikipedia for those not familiar with the Soucouyant:
"The Soucouyant or Soucriant in Dominica, Trinidadian, Saint.Lucian, Grenadian and Guadeloupean folklore (also known as Ole-Hague or Loogaroo elsewhere in the Caribbean), is a kind of blood-sucking.

The soucouyant is a shape-shifting Caribbean folklore character who appears as a reclusive old woman by day. By night, she strips off her wrinkled skin. In her true form, like a fireball, she flies across the dark sky in search of a victim.

Soucouyants suck people's blood from their arms, legs, and soft parts while they sleep leaving blue-black marks on the body in the morning. If the soucouyant draws too much blood, it is believed that the victim will either die and become a soucouyant or perish entirely, leaving her killer to assume her skin."
