This is new music from Arima born singer Gary Thomasos Dass better known in the music business as M'BA. The song was written and composed by Gary Thomasos Dass (MBA) and produced by Mr. Kenny Phillips of KMP Music Labs. The following information came with the music blast:

"Gary Thomosas aka M'BA was born in the town of Arima and is a Sagittarius under the Zodiac. He has been in the business since 1978 and was a calypso monarch finalist in 1993 and 1995. 

M'BA has performed throughout the Caribbean region and was ten times Young Kings finalist, Soca Monarch semi- finalist 1996, Carifesta finalist 1992, Humor Monarch finalist 2012, East Monarch 1998,1999 and 2001.

He has the distinction of writing songs for some of the well known Calypsonians and Chutney artists. He wrote the song "Soca Tarzan" (sung by Crazy) that took the second place for the  Road March competition of 1984. He also composed the song "Roti" for singer Riki Jai and also wrote songs for Machel Montano, Chris Garcia and 'The Baron'.

M'BA has also written songs for artists outside of Trinidad and Tobago. In 1991 he wrote for Barbados Calypsonian Black Pawn who managed to place second for the 1991 Crop Over festival in Barbados. He also wrote for former calypso monarch of Canada Charlo and many others; yes he wrote many hit song for artists not only in Trinidad and Tobago but in the Caribbean and North America.  

Some of the hit songs were 'Beyond the Boundary', 'Gee Dem One', 'Doh Jail Dem', 'Bad Boys', 'Fire Sticks', 'Satan' and 'Tac Tiki Tac'. He was adjudged the best Social Commentary for 1993 with the song 'Beyond the Boundary and 1995 Doh Jail Dem. Finally we must not forget that he also won the best Vintage Calypso for 1994 with "The Mayors Box"; that was in California in the USA".

The caption that accompanied the music blast reads 'Calypso Is Alive And Well' but this one falls under the genre of Soca Chutney. Soca Chutney is a style that had its roots in Calypso/Soca and Indian rhythms. Take a listen and let us know if the Culture is alive and well in Trinidad and Tobago!
