It is a slow night but I wanted to post this song that was released a few months ago, August to be exact. To date the YouTube listing has received 108 views but on ISLANDMIX the song has received 819 plays. That was good enough for this posting. The name of the song is 'Sample It'; the name of the singer is 'Jus J'. I don't have any information about the singer but we have the song and from that we can make a conclusion on the success or failure of the song.
To date from the hits received on YouTube and islandmix we can tell that the Cribbean listeners are slowly picking up on he singer and song. I guess the lyrics 'Sampl it' is finally hitting home for some people. I can't say that this is the way most guys think because the women are just as aggressive in today's society. So much for that.
Lyrics:
Guess what ... "Sample It", what do you think he wants to sample? Well he wants to find the sweet spot and sample the (her) waist. Do you think that this is a positive vibration - I think not!
Vocal Performance:
Jus J has a very good singing style but we don't have a body of work to sample from. I don't know how he will fair with a faster pace but we do know that he can surely groove well.
Music/Production:
Everything sounds solid and compliments his singing style for this track. I don't have anything negative to say about the track. Having said that it sounds clean but standard.
Replay Worthiness/Lasting Appeal:
Never judge a book by its cover. Just look at the sampling on YouTube compared to that on islandmix. How do you account for the disparity in plays? I guess people who like the song on islandmix are playing it often. When I hear this one on Trinidad radio stations I will believe that it will have some lasting appeal. In the mean time it get a pass even though the lyrical content could have been better - good voice, sweet singing style, good music but weak lyrics.
Production Notes:
Title: Sample It
Singer: Jus J
