On Ah Regular | Nu'Era | Trinidad Carnival 2013

'On Ah Regular' is not a regular 'Soca Riddim'; it is a song that has a serious bass rhythm with 'haunting strains of Jamaica on meh mind'! It is obvious that this song caters to the younger generation of Carnival 'daggerers' - get my drift? When you look at the production notes you may not be familiar with the people involved but one name that you will know is DJ Future... one can say the Future has arrived!

Well for the uninformed here is a bit of information that you may or may not appreciate: "Daggering is a form of dance originating from the Caribbean. The dance incorporates sexual and other forms of frantic movement". Ah ha, I guess now you see the light! Well if you don't (see the light) then don't bother because you are not in the minority.

The older generation will not be able to cope with the lyrics or the vibe of this 'riddim'( or the daggering dance). However, this is the wave of the future and the future is the youth. It feels like everything that originates in Jamaica ends up in Trinidad! Granted that this one will only play on certain radio stations in time this is the 'vibe of the music' that you will be fed on a continuous basis - get used to it or simply stick to your traditional Calypso or old school Soca rhythms.
