Maticoor | Rick Ramoutar | Trinidad Carnival 2013

Hold on to something, hold on to somebody if you can because this is one crazy song. I don't understand one word from this song but the music is infectious. If you love Chutney music then you will fall for this one - if you are not young don't try and keep pace with the music! The essence of Chutney was engineered into this track by Big Rich. The Pungalunks Factory went back to the root of the music - This one is for lovers of Chutney music!

About Maticoor:
What is Maticoor? Well simply put, it is part of the Hindu marriage traditions passed on from generation to generation. This part of the marriage preparations take place usually on the Friday prior to the wedding date. On this night there is music and and dance. This ceremony takes place on both sides of the engaging families. A special dye and yellow mud is applied to both the bride and groom that cannot be washed off until the morning of wedding.

People love to attend Maticoor because it is loaded with fun activities. There is music and dance and plenty food to eat. One very significant thing to note here is that chutney music came from the musical traditions of Maticoor. Now that is very a very interesting topic to research!
