Here is an interesting track by singer Sassy Ramoutar. Why is this song interesting? Well, Sassy usually sings Chutney music and has recently released a video that is available on YouTube. See her recently released video here: Good Time Official Video. Today she has released a song that has taken her away from her comfort zone.

Her latest endeavor takes her from one genre to another and we have a totally different artist (at least as far as a music style and vocal rendition is concerned). The track is titled "Let Me Go" and was written by Sassy and Teddy Ranks. The music production comes from Precision Productions from Palmiste in San Fernando, Trinidad.

The Chaguanas lady has crossed over with this effort... what do you think? Sassy remarked on her Facebook page: "Here is my brand new Soca for 2013. This one is for the strong individuals who ain't letting nobody tie dem down! :D Enjoy!"

Here is my take on this track...

Lyrics:
I guess the writers took to 'a ladies run this show' approach when writing these lyrics... this is a recipe for trouble in paradise. The lyrics tell one side of the story, let's if we get a reply from someone... nothing really special about the lyrics but I am sure many women feel her pain!

Vocal Performance:
I am not convinced that she is ready for the transition. Does she sound decent? Yes, she sounds OK but her voice does not flow smoothly and does not sound strong enough in some areas of the song. I don't want to say that it was a weak vocal performance but that she has room to grow. The rap portion was not too convincing.

Music/Production:
This is good music production with a nice pace. Yes, you can groove to this one regardless of how you feel about the vocals.  It is has a nice vibe with a sweet groove. However, it does not have anything that stands out... it was well done.

Replay Worthiness/Lasting Appeal:
I don't believe that the radio stations will pick up on this one. It may get some radio play but may not find itself on rotation. There are too many music releases coming fast and furious. Now, unless you are a known artist or have a song that stands out from your music, your song will not get the attention that it may deserve. I don't see this one having lasting appeal.
