Slow Wine | Burton Toney | Trinidad Carnival 2013

Usually I am not in favor of Jam and Wine songs. However, if you use the topic word in a sensible manner, with a good story line and sweet vocals, I can go for that. In the case of this song I have to give it a pass. It is a 'Groovy Soca' music track that has an appeal. The singer used very controlled vocals to go along with a very nice groove. The lyrics, even though he was singing "wine for me girl" were not rude or crude! This one gets the thumbs up!

In terms of 'shelf life/radio play' the singer and producer will have to do a lot of work to get this song 'out there'. This is a good start - I first heard it on islandmix.com. There are a lot of people who go to islandmix to get the new music releases first. The radio stations lag behind this site. Islandmix is an artists oasis when most radio stations are still playing the big name artists music from carnival 2012.

I am not familiar with the name Burton Toney but this effort sound good and with the right promotion his music and name will soon be on the lips of Caribbean music lovers.
