One of the major events for Brooklyn's Labor Day Carnival took place last night on the grounds of the Brooklyn Museum. The fans came out and supported their bands in a jubilant fashion. However, the results were not well received by supporters in certain sectors of Brooklyn. This is nothing new and, as is always the case, there will always be disgruntled fans. In the end, the judges' decisions are always final.  Fans and steel bands will cry and complain today but will immediately start thinking about next year... that is the competitive nature of Panorama competitions!

One thing that was pointed out by Mr. Kenny Phillips of Wack Radio 901 FM radio out of Trinidad, when he announced the results today, was the fact that most of the bands played Soca compositions. In Trinidad and Tobago, the land of Calypso, Soca, and Steel Pan, the bands choose songs specifically written for the steel pan (usually a Calypso). The New York steel bands chose Soca songs instead of the traditional calypso songs. This is something to keep in mind as Carnival 2013 approaches.

The results for the New York City (Labor Day) Panorama are as follows:
  1. Adlib  (Panorama Champions 2012)  -  Song: Baddist (469 Points)
  2. Crossfire  - Song: Action (464 Points)
