St. Vincent's Panorma competition, Steel and Glitter, will have Trinidadian Soca artiste Rodney 'Benjai' Le Blanc as guest perfomer during the competition. The St. Vincent CDC has decided to add a Soca act to this years Panorama competition to entice the patrons with something extra. Benjai fit the bill because he is an artiste who is 'in demand' in the region and North America. It is indeed interesting that Benjai was selected to perform at this event; there was no announcement of any local singer performing alongside Benjai.
The press release stated that, "Benjai is among the most sought after soca/ragga-soca acts along the east coast of the United States commanding audiences of thousands with his engaging performance style and infectious personality".
"The Benjai sound has influenced the music of a number of successful young artistes and musicians, yet Benjai continues to stand out as unique and nonpareil".
The Panorama competition is scheduled to take place at Carnival City, Victoria Park on Thursday July 5Th. with a very nominal entrance fee of EC$15.00. The entrance fee is very small and it is hoped that there will be a 'full house'.
