"I Love Carnival" [Shibuya Riddim] [Produced By Precision Productions & LIME Records] [Soca] SVG Carnival 2012.
The song, "I love Carnival", has singers Kevin Lyttle and Skinny Fabulous at the microphones; these guys are studs out of St. Vincent and it was expected that such a combination would create a sure-fire hit for Vincy Carnival 2012 - this has not happened yet! I listened to the song, and even though Precision Productions out of Trinidad worked on this track, I really don't like it but is has nothing to do with the Riddim or the music production.
I am sure that you may be pondering,"what is it about the song that I dislike"? Well I really think that Kevin Lyttle's voice is very, very annoying and I say that kindly... damn his voice is annoying! Skinny is Skinny, even thought I think he tries too much to sound like Bunji Garlin! Just listen to the song and pay attention to this unlikely combination of voices that just don't go well together! Damn, Kevin Lyttle's voice is bad for this track... wrong singer! Maybe, if Skinny sang this song on his own it could become a hit for Vincy Carnival 2012, but not with Lyttle's voice on it!
There is nothing out of the ordinary with the music... it is a basic Riddim with nothing special to add, except for the name Shibuya Riddim! This is no Turn Me On and Kevin Lyttle has to keep searching for that elusive second hit. This one will not do it... not even in St. Vincent!
