This recording is clean and sounds really nice. However, I noticed that the wining theme stands out in the lyrics. This is a really nice production but if the lyrics are tweaked it could even become a more appealing track. The fender to bumper and wining themes could go and should be replaced with lyrics that would make the song more appealing to the International audience. These artistes must think International and even though 'festival' may be the order of the day, it is important that they keep an eye on the bigger picture - the International audience/market!
As a Trinidadian I can understand the song and enjoy the music but I really don't think the International audience could or would care much about these lyrics. Now this posting could be applied to many of the tracks that I have already posted to this site... so why did I 'pick on' this song?
Well tonight Kenny Phillips asked me to take a listen to the song. I had seen it posted on islandmix and YouTube previously but did not pay attention to it... I did not listen to the song. Now that I have listened I can say that this song and singer have very good potential but the song's lyrics need to be tweaked to appeal to a wider listening audience (not just for Carnival) . That is my take on this track; but don't get me wrong (that seems to be going around lately), I really like it!
