On Wednesday April 14, 2010 I posted and article on the Tobago Goat Race Festival. I was concerned about the cost of the facility (over $100 Million dollars) and the benefits for this expenditure. Well today I am happy to post an article that appeared in the Tobago News regarding this facility. The 'complex' will serve many purposes - a plus in m;y book and shows that the people in Tobago have their heads in the right place.
The name of the complex is the Bucco Center and it was put in service for the Goat Races but is not a finished facility. Construction work continues with the complex servicing many areas. This means that it will be a multi purpose facility serving the community. The complex will serve the following:
- Goat Race Facility,
- Community Centre,
- Fisheries Facility,
- Tourism Facilities,
- Car Park for 200 vehicles.
"Access to the new facility which hosted the Easter Goat Race Festival will now be restricted in order to allow infrastructural works to be completed. He added that construction works at the centre were due to be reconvened at the site from this week.
Adams said upon completion the centre will comprise the Goat Race Facility, a Community Centre, a Fisheries Facility, Tourism Facilities, and a Car Park for 200 vehicles.
He also commended the contractors for their prompt construction of the centre. Contractors of the Goat Race Facility are MSR Construction Ltd. and Adams Project Management and Construction Company Ltd.; while the contractor for the Tourism Facility is Construction Services Supplies Ltd.
The Secretary also announced that the National Maintenance Training and Security Company Ltd (MTS) was now the Project Manager of the Scarborough Library, replacing the National Insurance Property Development Co Ltd. He added that the MTS will commence the tendering process for a new contractor to complete the library and that a contract was expected to be awarded for the completion of the project by June 2010."
