Carnival Lagniappe 2025 was a night where the winners made a statement showing why they were able to win it all. Winning the title for a third consecutive year, Katzenjammers Steel Orchestra traveled from Tobago to Trinidad to cement their place as champion steelband for their category. They delivered a mesmerizing performance that brought on deserving applause from those in attendance.
This year Carnival Lagniappe delivered the goods, and with the performance of "Lying Excuses," a song by the Mighty Sparrow, Katzenjammers made a bold statement, and just maybe we will see them performing in the large conventional bands category. Undoubtedly, the larger bands will challenge them, but they possess the necessary talent to excel.
After the band finished their performance, there was joy and pride exuding from the members of the band as they exited the stage. Through all the stress of traveling back and forth from Tobago to Trinidad for competitions, they stood strong, and we are the beneficiaries of some excellent music.
