The South/Central region delivered on the promise that they will deliver sweet steelpan music. It was a night to remember as steel pan enthusiasts witnessed an unforgettable performance at the preliminary round of judging for the large conventional steelbands panorama competition. The T&TEC Tropical Angel Harps, hailing from the South/Central region, delivered an electrifying rendition of Kes' "Cocoa Tea." Under the masterful arrangement of Clarence Morris, the band showcased not only their musical prowess but also the immense talent that exists beyond the better-known Northern Region bands.

The moment "Cocoa Tea" began to reverberate throughout the venue, it became evident that the Tropical Angel Harps were poised to leave a lasting impression. Clarence Morris's ingenuity was evident in the arrangement, which seamlessly blended the vibrant energy of Kes' original composition with the unique, soulful sound of the steel pan. The musicians, each a virtuoso in their own right, played with such precision and passion that one could almost feel the music coursing through them.

What truly set this performance apart was the cohesion and synchronicity of the Tropical Angel Harps. This was not just a group of talented individuals; it was a well-oiled musical orchestra, each member in perfect harmony with the next. The fluid transitions, the dynamic crescendos, and the sheer control demonstrated by the players had the audience cheering from start to finish.

But beyond the technical excellence, there was an undeniable spirit and emotion that permeated the performance. The Tropical Angel Harps conveyed the essence of "Cocoa Tea" with such authenticity that it felt as though they were channeling the very heart of the song. This emotional depth resonated with those in attendance, creating a powerful connection between the musicians and the audience. Please take the opportunity to listen to the slower second performance of the  song to really appreciate the sweet musical arrangement this band delivered.

As the final notes faded into the night, the applause was deafening. The T&TEC Tropical Angel Harps had not only entertained but also inspired, reminding everyone present that the South/Central region is home to some of the finest steel pan talent in the country. We wish them the best of luck in the next round of competition and eagerly anticipate what they will bring to the stage next.
