For forty calypsonians aiming to qualify for the 2025 Calypso Monarch finals, Saturday will be a crucial day. Machel Montano, last year's winner, is waiting for the competing cast to be selected, and one calypsonian, singing a social, political, dance, or a combination of all, could emerge with a stinging and celebrated performance that will wow the audience. Today  we present not just an important song, but a song that has all the elements deserving of the title, Monarch. For this post, we present a song written by the notorious Mistah Shak, produced by the very talented Junior Ibo Joseph and vocalized by Curlissa, Charles Mapp. The song is titled "The Original Superwoman," and it is a song that will enlighten while having you dancing to the melodious sounds of Calypso music colored with brass and background vocals by the artist and Tricial Hamilton. This is a superb song and one that should be in the finals!

"Rubric"! We put that word as a standalone warning for the listening public who are easily taken by stage performance and the hype of an artist for various reasons other than the quality of the Calypso. Remember, points rewarded are but a small portion of the points awarded for any performance . Now one may ask, what is the rubric, and how fair will the judging be on Saturday? Well, the judges will judge, but the true value of the Calypsonian will be determined by those who follow the artform. Let's hope we can all celebrate those selected as deserving.

"The Original Superwoman" is one of the songs we expect to make it to the finals. A strong stage performance will help, and for those in attendance, please note that your vocal support and applause could help propel this artist and her superb song to the finals. I have a feeling that this year we will celebrate a female monarch. The female voice is strong, and their compositions are strong! Some of the best stage presence and vocal excellence comes from the women this year, so why not Curlissa?

Curlissa has consistently impressed us with her powerful vocals and captivating stage presence. As she takes the spotlight, let’s rally behind her and show our unwavering support, ensuring that her talent shines bright and resonates with everyone in the audience.
