Resonating Revolution: 'Tears' by Kerice Pascall Sings Truth to Power!

After listening to  the songs for tomorrow's Calypso Fiesta at Skinner Park in San Fernando, the more I am convinced that the new monarch will be a woman! Just take this song by Kerice Pascall; the lyrics are excellent, her vocals are powerful, and after watching her sing, it feels so emotional as if she experienced the written lyrics.

The judges will have the final say, but one would hope that not because an artist is popular or a Soca singer returning to his Calypso roots does not get a head start with the points because of his notoriety. A competitor such as Kerice Pascall deserves an equal opportunity. If that is the case, I am confident that she will ace tomorrow's test and end up in the  finals. But wait, there is more... Karene Asche and Terri Lyons, former Calypso Monarchs, will have to be reckoned with, and we are looking forward to Calypso war tomorrow.

We now invite you to watch the performance of Kerice Pascall singing the song that will crown her Calypso Monarch 2025. She aced this singing test and is deserving of all the accolades coming her way.

A Song That Speaks Truth to Power
“Tears Real Tears” is more than a song—it’s a movement. Crafted with poignant lyrics and delivered in Kerice’s signature impassioned style, the calypso addresses the systemic inequalities, corruption, and societal neglect that plague our nation. The song is a vivid story of the struggles faced by the marginalized, from street children and single mothers to forgotten elders and the impoverished masses.

In an unflinching critique of leadership and governance, Kerice boldly confronts the widening gap between the wealthy elite and the voiceless majority. With a tempo of 75 BPM, the stirring composition pairs heart-wrenching storytelling with anthemic choruses that demand reflection and action.
